I Pee, You Pee, Everybody She-P — A Scuba Story for Girls
Posted By admin on March 18, 2009
I still have a smile on my face thinking about how I came to learn about She-P…
The Scuba Diver Girls dive cold water a lot and we always complain about the chilly entry and then the numb fingers and toes upon our exit. But in all the complaining we always get our giggles over the instant warm up we get when we pee in our wetsuits! We have continuous jokes about our moments of ‘P’. For example, Steph and Katy laugh at me because I always have to stop kicking, pause, and then pee where Stephanie just kicks right through it and then smiles with a satisfied grin. Katy always has her latte to get ready for the big ‘P’. We even joke about it out of the water…Steph micro-blogged on Facebook one day “I’d rather be peeing in my wetsuit than stuck in traffic!” that was followed with a barrage of comments from Scuba Diver Girls around the world about this very topic!
Well, I never thought much of it, the fact that the instant I hit the water my body goes into pee mode, until I did a blog on the ice divers in the great white north. I was amazed at how beautiful the pictures were and how much these ice divers loved the sport. I instantly decided that I was going to try that…but then it hit me…how can I possibly ice dive? I can’t wear a drysuit…no sir…you can’t pee in your drysuit…now that would be a BIG MESS! Now instead of being a big joke…it has become a deterrent to something I want to do..NOW WHAT???
Later that week we had a Scuba Diver Girls Meetup and one of the girls (Kate) wore a drysuit. She was telling us how great it was to be all toasty and warm in there. I said to her, “I could never wear a drysuit because of the pee situation.” She knew of my desire to try ice diving and just laughed at me and told me that sooner or later if I wanted to dive in colder temps that I was going to have to wear one….oh my…what will I do? After that, I brought it up a few times and no one seemed to offer a solution…until I met Craig Bauman, tech diver from Oregon. HE FINALLY TOLD ME THERE IS A SOLUTION!
Craig introduced me to Laura James and she introduced me to She-P! Now, I have not tried a drysuit yet, nor have I tried this product, but I can say this…the amount of happy women that are present on their website and in their Facebook group, Divine Secrets of the She-P Sisterhood, stands testament to the benefit this product brings to women in diving. This was created for tech divers, but after talking to Laura she told me how many Scuba Diver Girls out there have that ‘hit the water pee situation’ that I do…so for all of us, here is a solution!
So…now I can relax knowing that there is a product out there that allows women to dive for greater lengths of time…or for whatever length of time but without the concern about the urge to go. So ladies, check this out because now even if you aren’t in that wetsuit that lets you pee to your bladders content…you can latch this baby on and pee and pee and pee and pee…….Read on my Scuba Diver Girls…because this is exciting stuff!
She-P
The She-P makes it possible for female divers to comfortably use a P-valve while diving in a drysuit instead of using diapers.
The She-P is a soft silicone device featuring a reservoir with ‘output’ tube, that has flexible ‘wings’ that are designed to be adhered to the skin with a medical adhesive intended for use with prosthetic devices. This results in a proper seal and comfortable urinating.

‘It becomes pretty much unnoticeable to this wearer almost immediately upon application. It tucks in nicely, warms up and is made out of soft, conforming silicone’.
The p-valve is usually installed on the inner thigh. To install the valve, a small hole is punched in the dry suit, RTV silicone is applied to the valve, and the valve is put in place. The valve unit has a hose attached to it. The hose runs from the valve to your She-P. When attached, the diver can urinate into the She-P. The urine goes through the tube, out the valve, and into the water.

For more comprehensive information including FAQ’s and how to get your very own She-P, check out the She-P website! It’s not just for technical divers anymore!!!
Finally, to leave you with something fun…check out our sister scuba diver girls after their dive using their She-P!!
