Resort

The resort is located in an area called Pretty Bush and a boat is required for the 5 minute trips to and from town. We chose this location to provide peace and quiet for our guests, away from the hustle and bustle of this busy little town. We have boats traveling to town all day long, and you are welcome to get on any of these to explore and buy gifts. For evening trips, just let us know when you wish to be picked up.

Just off Deep Blue Resort’s Beach is fantastic shore diving on 3 of the best sites on the south end of Utila. Unlimited shore diving is included in our dive package. This really is a dive resort run by divers for divers (the owner still dives as much as possible) Deep Blue Resort also remains very involved with whale shark research and is regularly hosting various whale shark experts from around the world.

Rooms

The resort has ten spacious, deluxe rooms, each with a large private balcony overlooking a white sand beach and the crystal waters of the Caribbean. With a maximum of only twenty guests at any time, it is a place where you can truly relax and make yourself at home.

The owners of the resort, are on site 24 hours a day and will adapt the programs to fit the needs and wishes of you, our guests. All food is cooked to European standards of hygiene, There is a wide choice of meals also we can cater for vegetarians and vegans. Our objective is to provide you with a vacation that you will want to repeat in years to come at a price you can afford.

Our lounge is a comfortable social area where guests can chat, watch videos or just relax. Deep Blue provides full wireless internet with 24 hour-a-day access and two computers with CD burners to save the photos of the whale shark you swam with.

Diving

Most mornings the boat will head to the north side of the island and hopefully will encounter some of our more famous residents, whale sharks, other common sightings are dolphins as we go around to the north side, this truly is a tropical paradise.

Selected weeks in March and April are very special Whale Shark Research Weeks at Deep Blue Resort. This is an an exciting time every year as we invite our customers to participate in this special project. We only allow 12 guests per week during these times to maximize everyone’s chance of seeing the whale sharks. We will have a second boat out spotting whale sharks so even when you are diving we will be looking for whale sharks for you. Present at the resort during these special Research Weeks are whale shark specialists who will be on the boat with us as well as give talks in the evenings. The Resort will also usually have film crews and journalists here at that time.

Other Activities & Amenities

Snorkeling with Whale Sharks: Surprisingly not much is actually known about the world’s largest fish. Whale Sharks are protected in Honduras and Utila is on their main migratory path. A scuba diving vacation with Deep Blue Utila will provide you with the opportunity of seeing and even snorkeling with these awesome creatures.

Horseback Riding: A wonderful way to see the deserted north side of the island and visit the freshwater caves, this is a great was to spend a Friday afternoon decompressing before your flight home.

Iguana Research and Breeding Station: Learn about the endemic Iguana of Utila, they can also arrange walking tours, have a look at their website at Utila Iguana Station.

A Trip to Utila Cays: An assortment of small islands, you can walk around the inhabited ones or lounge on a beach on a deserted island. If you would like to spend a day on the islands we will happily prepare a packed lunch for you, take you there and pick you up at a pre arranged time.

Visit Utila Town: Visit the town and see how the Caribbean used to be, pop into one of the many ocean front bars built on stilts over the ocean or just walk around, enjoy some local shopping.

Kayaks, Cycle and Golf Cart Rental: You can rent cycles and golf carts and go and explore the island yourself.

Gym: If you are feeling energetic there is a small well equipped gym in town.

Relax: Of course you could just lay in a hammock on the beach or on your private balcony.
